Ziplining! Today we had the quintessential Costa Rica experience as we zipped through the treetops above Playa Hermosa, about 30 minutes from our house. We were able to transverse 14 lines and 1 suspension bridge in about 2 hours. There were amazing views of the coastline along the way. Danny thought it was really relaxing, which he didn’t anticipate. Zoe said it was very fun. I thought it was a bit nerve-wracking but overall a really cool experience. For Darcy, it was more scary than fun. She did a few lines by herself and the rest with a guide, which was a bit easier. She looked so little jumping off the platform on her own! We all liked the longest line, which was second to last, the best. We was some monkeys and iguanas while our group was waiting to hike back down the hill.
After we finished the zipline tour, we drove a few minutes to Jaco and had lunch at the Taco Joint, which we had been skunked on the week before. It was worth the wait.
Afterwards, we walked down to the beach. Here, the sand was more rocky and the waves were a bit bigger. There were many more people and we could see some surfers in the water. We also did some shopping for souvenirs and got some ice cream at Pops.
I think everyone was anxious to get back to the house for some relaxing time. There was some swimming and reading on the beach to do. Most of the flotsam from the storm had been moved toward the shore with the storms last night (another night without power) and seemed more concentrated. There was a lot of plastic, so I collected a shopping bag of stuff for the trash, including a toothbrush, training wheel, several bottles and other little plastic bits. One water bottle even had a label in Japanese.

Dinner at home, another rain storm, but we figured out the TV and watched an episode of Alone. For dessert, Danny and I shared a small container of ceviche that he bought from a man selling them along our road for 3,000 colones (about 5 bucks). We’ll have an early morning start tomorrow as we are headed to Manuel Antonio National Park for the day.

I’m loving this blog and the pictures! It looks like a great trip. Can’t wait to hear all about it when’s e see you in a couple weeks!
